Video: Wetpaint Wikis in Plain English

By leelefever on October 2, 2007 - 9:04pm.

Wetpaint is a local Seattle company that makes super easy-to-use wikis for the consumer market. This client production, our third, is currently displayed from the "Tell Me More" link from Wetpaint.com.

This project was an absolute joy.  The good people at Wetpaint challenged us to create something fun and reflective of their brand.  Instead of focusing on the mechanics of a wiki, this video is much more about how a wiki can become an expression of passion and why someone would want a wiki. Anytime we can do a video that includes a ninja, shark and hairless pet, it's a good project.

Just today, Wetpaint released a Facebook app that enables Facebook members to create full Wetpaint wikis within Facebook.  Very cool.

Awesome

So glad to see you folks doing this for other companies - you've really hit on a great formula, your general vids are the "go to" resource of choice for intro to RSS and social bookmarking. Hope you're having fun!

Perfect (again!)

Lively, light and as usual - brilliant!
Very timely too as I'd been dithering finishing on writing a post on wiki's for non-profits.

3d!

Awesome. Love the brief uses of "3d" drawings mixed in - always neat to see how you spice things in each new video.

Another fun video...

...but the ninja was not on the screen nearly enough!

Are you going to mix it up with another "generic" topic? Its fun learning about new sites and products, but they come off a touch more market-y than say the RSS or even the Social Bookmarking vids.

Either way, keep up the good wrk.

On Sounding Market-y

Hi Eric,
Thanks for the comment. I agree - there are never enough ninjas in our videos. :)

Also, you're right, many of our videos do sound market-y and for good reason - businesses have paid us to create them as a way to market there services.

We do two kinds of videos:

1) The Common Craft Show - these are not paid videos and should sound less market-y.

2) Common Craft Productions - these are paid and will likely sound market-y from now on. They are not built for this blog - they're created for our clients' web sites. In the blog entries I've tried to be clear about which is which.

And, I assure you that will we'll be doing more general Common Craft shows soon. Cheers!

git 'er done!

Showing how to actually set up a free wiki on wet paint, pbwiki or social text has been missing from the conversation for way too long. Nice job. Yay!

Coolness

The vids here are funny in a cartoonish way but are very informative. Thanks for sharing!
