Excellent work

One more excellent work from commoncraft crew. Definitely this will be helpful to explain the web search strategies to beginners and to school kids.

Keep up the great service.

Yet another wonderful video

Yet another wonderful video - how do you guys do it?

TeacherTube too?

Another great explanation! Will we see this video also coming to school filter-friendly TeacherTube? I can't wait to pass on the link.

Teacher Tube

Hi Lemon,
I've been having problems uploading to Teacher Tube, but it appears they are worked out now. This video is now shared on Teacher Tube.

Thanks from a librarian

What a fun way to show people what we librarians have been trying to teach them for years.

You are amazing

I absolutely LOVE your style. You make things so simple. I send people to your videos all the time to explain things. I appreciate all you do!!!

Clear, Concise & Fun!

Lee & Sachi,

This newest entry into the In Plain English series surpasses your previous ones in wit, wisdom and looks. I'll be sharing this with my students at Georgia Southern University, especially those who are just learning how to do research for the speeches in my public speaking class.

Thanks so much,

Barbara

This video

I have never seen a simpler explanation for web searching in my life. What a great video. If I never had a reason to send people to your site, this alone would be enough. Thanks again to Lee and Sachi for your great work.

I love the illustrations

What an engaging presentation on web searching. Straight forward, to the point and entertaining as well. Wonderful work.

journalism

good siter but need to have more on masas communication, perhaps job opportunities worldwide wouls make things more interesting

Another great one, simple as can be.

"live simple"

I am always admired as

I am always admired as simply you can explain difficult things

Another Thanks from a Librarian

This is a terrific explanation of web searching! It's very clear and concise. As a librarian, I'm always looking for new ways to teach about searching. Is it possible for me to embed this in my library's webpage or do I need to buy a license?

Library Use

Hi Elaine,
Thanks for the kind words. This video, like all the free online versions we share on the web, are for non-commercial purposes. This means that schools, libraries, non-profits and individuals can share them on organization web pages without worry. If your library wanted to have the hi-resolution, downloadable versions, you're welcome to purchase them in the Store, but it isn't a requirement.

Thanks a Million!

I viewed this as a student for a college course. I had no Idea that the minus sign narrows the following word from the search. I have done this looking for the opposite results for my job previously, and thanks to this video, I can work more efficiently. Thanks a million!

Once again, simply brilliant!

The simplicity and speed with which you cover all of your topics is incredible. I have not once come anywhere close to explaining this so well in 5 times as many minutes. Truly inspiring, thanks!

2nd of your videos I've seen!

I ran into another one of your videos doing a Google search. Thank you!

Complex made Simple !

I've seen most of the videos and I am impressed at how something that although every one uses or has heard about, there is not a clear understanding for all people of all ages ... It's true that there is a lot of potential with good technologies emerging at a tremendous speed, but it is also important that all people know how to use these technologies ... I am always glad to share these videos with friends that I know will benefit from the understanding in practical terms about seems to be complex ......Thanks !

Teacher Tube Too!

I second the motion for your videos on Teacher Tube too! Our filter is just too difficult to work around since only one person has control of unblocking websites. Teacher Tube is unblocked however and I love that several of your videos are there!

Golden

Hey Lee, for long as I have been using the web I haven't used some of these strategies. Thanks for the great information.

Excellent Video

I use it to help my clients understand internet searching too.

Arnold

Please try to add as many vids to TeacherTube

Hi,
These videos are gems! As a doctoral student, teacher, and professional developer in literacy and technology, I use your videos often. Thanks so much for the clarity your work provides. Thanks also, for taking the extra time to post these to Teachertube. Unfortunately, many schools block Youtube. Your videos are important and MUST remain accessible to teachers and students. Thanks for all you do!!

Since moving to Hamilton and

Since moving to Hamilton and starting a new job I’ve been getting the “So.. What is it you do exactly?” question quite a bit. Put simply, I participate in online conversations… Broken down to its core, social media is that simple.I’ve read some very long winded explanations, watched some videos and read a few books, but it all boils down to the conversation. A lot of people reference tools that are used, but the tools simply enable us to participate and they are constantly changing and evolving.

Great examples!

I'm always looking for good "NOT" searching examples and never thought of mullet! You guys RULE!
Another excellent video. Thanks!

Terrific vid, gracias

Great work, thankee.

I also have been trying to tell peeps, for quite a while, about simple solutions to searching.

Without indulging in too much comment spam, may I offer a small piece that was inspired by a pal being unable to find parts for her newly acuired, secondhand Italian coffee maker, first produced in the 1950s.

After our little "searching -learning session", she has also talked to others about the two major inputs you cover, namely "+/-" and "quote marks" for phrase searching.

But if I'd been able to show her your piece first, the exercise would have been even easier.

chat thanks.

I can't believe I learned something

Great introductory video! I thought it would be good for my wife who is just beginning to dabble in the internet. I was surprised to learn something new myself! The minus sign is a new one for me, and I spend my life online. Wow!

(i) inspired by Commoncraft again

Thank you for another great movie. Videos show faster than written procedures can tell.

Please fix the dotsub link on this one, it points to your presidential election video.
