I really appreciate the input on the Buddy Icon Issue. You are right, the current icon makes me look tired and doesn't match with my personality.

I may be making a mountain out of molehill, but you have a been a great help, so I'd like to see what you think about these...

1) Yellow Head.jpg 2) yellowhead2.jpg 3) yellow head3.jpg

Like the others, these are courtesy of Kris Krug (Flickr Photostream).

What's your vote? A vote for "none" is fine too.

2, no question. You can actually see your face.

If you don't want us to see your face, then use 3 ;-)

#2 is bright, but #1 is the smiley-est.

You need to shave...

Another vote for #2. It's your full head, and the lighting is better than #1. #3 is too cut-off at the top, and too much body, just the best practice these days is to have a full head.

Hey I wasn't asking about personal hygiene Darryl. :)

Boris- that's not a vote! but I'll take it.

You gotta look into the camera, smile and ask your buddy to take a picture like these: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kk/sets/514662/

I'm with Jeremy!

Can you take the shadows out of #1 with photoshop? It's a great shot, just a bit dark.

Otherwise #2, no question

I'm gonna be controversial here and say none of them, at all, if you're 'meeting someone' close yer mouth :D

I liek the one you're using for Technorati far more... has 'guru' written all over it too.

2.

seriously, #3 is personable, it has a decent crop that does not look just like a straight head shot, it feel conversational in tone and it is not so close as to feel goofy and scary.

My vote is for #2
The way buddy icons get sized by the various services I think the more icon like and the less photo like the better.

None of the above. You need better lighting, a closed mouth, and to be looking straight into the camera. Don't forget to think about the background, too--I kind of like how the brick disappears behind your head in #3.
