OK, so I sold out. At least that's how I feel for some reason. I recently added Google AdWords to my sites and it has been a long time coming.

I always thought about it, but felt like it would be some adulteration of my site for some reason. I didn't want to force ads on you, my faithful readers, so I could make a few bucks. I wanted my site to be pure, I think.

Anyway, I'm over it now and really wish I had been doing AdWords for longer. I'm not going to retire from the income, but man it's great to see a tiny bit of income from doing something I'd be doing anyway. All the sudden I feel like I'm getting paid to blog. Am I professional now?

Not selling out. Won't affect whether I read a not. Good on you for making a few bucks in an unobtrusive way.

Not selling out at all, it's the least imposing kind of blog advertising IMO that you can get.

I'm not sure it's the best way to get some revenue though... for example, I think that a banner / well-placed link from you to, say, Socialtext or Typepad or something along those lines might pay better. I know if I was in that mareket I'd like to run something on commoncraft!

Something that gapingvoid has known about for a long time!

So why not go and sell yourself to them, if I was after advertising I'd be whoring myself left right & centre to the LMSs & alike!

Cheers, James

Not to fret, Lee. In fact, what you are doing is quite tame in comparison to some others. Consider, for instance, Jeremy Wright, a blogger who is selling his blogging skills on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=193&item=5142129647&rd=1 !!

Aw, you folks make me feel better. Actually, you make feel like I should be much more of a capitalist than I am using Adwords. :)
