Have you seen the new Blogger.com? I really like the new design and what struck me most was that it’s not a weblog at all (until after you sign in anyway). Blogger.com does not have a weblog on the public front page.

This is significant for me at least, as it was the first organization I saw using a weblog on the front page in 2001. Now- now more.

I think it shows that they are doing good research and matching the site to the needs of their target users and their goals. It tells me this too: weblogs don’t serve every site well- even for blogger.com, a weblog is not the best format.

Being so interested, I looked around and found a few interesting posts:

The Great Blogger Relaunch by Biz Stone

Blogger Case Study – Adaptive Path (the user experience consultants)

The New Blogger- StopDesign (the designers)

Nice to see Blogger lookin good and working for users.

My experience, http://nfocentrale.net/orcmid/blog/2004/05/blogger-reloaded-whose-blog-is-it-this.asp, is not so satisfying as your observations at the threshhold of the site.

Yeah, there are folks grumbling for sure and I'm sure they have valid points. I'm not a heavy user so I can't vouch for any experiences outside of the look of the site.
