This Harvard case study (26 page .pdf) discusses how webloggers covered the remarks and ultimate resignation of Trent Lott after his remarks regarding Strom Thurmond's pro-segregation stance.
It's a detailed play-by-play of how the blogosphere took a remark that was ignored by much of the mainstream media and made it into an issue that ended with the resignation of a Senator.
