Video: Podcasting in Plain English

By leelefever on April 21, 2008 - 5:11pm.

Despite being around for years, podcasting is often misunderstood. This video is our way of building awareness and hopefully adoption of a technology that any computer user can use.

Brilliant!

Thanks you guys - this is where I'm going to direct all those who give me a look of incomprehension when I talk about podcasting.

Have gone viral with it on seesmic, twitter and my blogs. YAY!

Fab!

Another fab video!

Thanks guys

Thanks for posting the transcript - I've posted a link to it along with the dotSub subtitled version on by blog for English learners. Keep on' rockin' you two...

Thanks guys

Thanks for posting the transcript - I've posted a link to it along with the dotSub subtitled version (as well as the YouTube version) on my blog for English learners. Keep on' rockin' you two...

Very nice work

You consistently are able to capture not just the "how" but the "why should I care" about the topic. And again, really nice work on this. It is very interesting to see how evolved your presentations are becoming. Keep up the great work.

As always...

Lee and Sachi,

great work, as usual. Your videos really help a lot in explaining stuff to people who are new to these technologies. Thank you both!

This is great- thanks!!

Last year I started a podcast project with the hopes of audio recording sessions at the Annual Meetings of the Society for Applied Anthropology. Of course, the audio is posted to a blog. Anthropology is not the most tech-savvy of the disciplines, so I've used your "RSS in Plain English" as well as your "Blogs in Plain English" to help our readers/listeners understand these new-to-them concepts. I can't thank you enough for doing the "Podcasting in Plain English!" I really feel like your videos make these unknown terms more accessible to our readership. You guys rock!!

Useful!!

Thanks guys. I was not aware the the podcasts can play on multiple types of MP3 players - I thought it was only for IPODs.

Appreciate the help.

Fantastic!!

Lee, even a caveman can understand podcasts. thanks. aj.

Podcasting in Plain English

You've done it again! I'm real old-school (my husband calls it - technologically challenged) - and I thank God how you can make it so simple, even I get it. Great work.

Hate to be repetitive but...BRILLIANT

I liked it so much, I posted it to my blog for Wednesday, April 23. I HOPE this will end the 1000 yard stares I get when trying to explain this to clients. (I know it won't but, hey, a guy can dream, can't he?)

Thanks for all the great work.

;-)

no "boooh" no "yeaaah"...but really brilliant though !

The technologies go ahead.

The technologies go ahead. So I am not very impessed, but nevertheless it is a cool idea

idea for another edition

what a great little podcast. Loved the animation, especially the sequence about the man on the bus. Suggestion for another podcast -- how about doing something about how simple it is to do some basic editing before you upload -- I am amazed at the number of podcasts that are uploaded au naturelle .. complete with door slams, dead air and the sequence where the camera gets dropped on the floor ...

Good editing on your piece, by the way ...

podcasts

I love the information, simplicity, and format that you use to teach. I would like to show this clip at the beginning of every podcast in-service that I teach. Will that be okay? I am a teacher in public schools in the United States. I work with teachers as well as students.

Please Do

The free version of this video is open to non-commercial use and this certainly applies to public schools. Thanks for asking. :)

LOVE, LOVE , LOVE your videos!

Your videos are simple, funny, and informative! And definitely CREATIVE!
Thanks for sharing.

Great work

You guys are doing amazing work. I love sending your videos to my less tech savy friends and family to explain all this stuff I'm talking about to them.

I look forward to your next video.

I Love Sending You Link Love!

Another great video.

Congrats Lee (and all at Common Craft). Your work truly does inspire me to think about how to make things more easily understandable (does that make sense? ;)

Here's my Blog post about this awesome video:

Great job!

This was really useful in explaining podcasting to friends that just didn't get it.

Any chance you could do a video on "Widgets and Gadgets in Plain English?" That would be amazingly helpful.

Thanks for the great videos.

Missed that...

Now you have done it and it's great! I posted it on our blog to show it to our audience.

Thank you,
Fabio.
