Vancouver is the Bryghtest
By leelefever on June 10, 2005 - 10:53am
I feel lucky to be within 2-3 hours of a city like Vancouver, BC. To be just 2-3 hours away and be sooo different from Seattle is fascinating to me. The downtown part of the city looks more like an Asian city than anything in North America, with lots of glass and metal high rises, mostly residential. All the density of downtown makes for a bustling city, with people constantly moving about.

Sachiko and I are headed up to Vancouver to hang out with the guys from Bryght. If you're not familiar, they provide hosted sites that are built on the Drupal community content platform. We're going for "business reasons", but I'm really looking forward to the non-work non-geek activities too.

It's been years coming, but I've finally taken steps to reduce email spam. It was always a pain, but so easy to delete and sometimes mildly entertaining. Plus, it always bugged me to find out that a person didn't reply because my address was deemed spam by a machine. Now, I guess I'm part of that problem.

There's no doubt about it, I take Internet access for granted. For last couple of days, my computer will only connect to my home wireless network for seconds at a time and it's painful. I'm on my wife's computer now.

Sachiko and I are heading back to North Carolina for the wedding of my brother this weekend. I won't be blogging it, but I'm sure I'll take a bunch of photos.
If I were going some place a little more tropical, I could use the mantra from Matt May's trip to Mexico. "More Mai Tai Less WiFi".

By leelefever on May 11, 2005 - 10:09am
I've gotten a couple of reports from readers that the text in my RSS feeds is getting funkified. Both of the people who have reported it are Mac users and I'm not sure about their RSS readers. It appears that wherever there is an apostrophe, weird characters are being inserted into the feed text.
Does anyone have an idea why this is happening or how to fix it?

For the second time in as many weeks, I've carelessly posted entries here on Common Craft that were intended for leelefever.com. For those of you that read via RSS, you saw earlier today that I'm a Nascar fan. While perhaps interesting to some, this information doesn't match with the niche I'm hoping to serve here.

I'm pretty impressed that I was able to get the last couple of posts to come through from del.icio.us over the weekend. It's a pretty cool system, but experimental and um, geeky, to me at least.
