Boxes and Arrows: Natural Selections: Colors Found in Nature and Interface Design
This article is about the use of natural colors in interface design and it really hit home with me- I was just trying this morning to pick the right colors for a new community interface.
It talks about how color affects a users perceptions and mood and how colors that naturally occur together can create a more inviting and appealing online environment.
I've never thought of myself as a designer- and certainly claim no expertise in graphic design. However, I'm finding myself wanting to learn more lately.
I think design is a part of everything we do- down to the the smallest little things like tying our shoes, yet many folks don't give design a second thought. I, for one, am learning that design matters.
I just finished "Small Things Considered: Why There is No Perfect Design" by Henry Petroski. I'll review it some other time, but it really made me think about the design of everyday things.
